Another First

We don't have firsts here near as often as we used to when the kids were younger but while we were in NE we accomplished a first. Hannah drove for the first time. You see, in the great state of Iowa "children" (which is what they still are) can drive at 14 with a parent. We knew we needed to introduce her to the world of driving before her birthday in September and figured a quiet farming town in NE was just the place to do it.

Her dad and I took her to the school parking lot where only one vehicle sat so as to decrease the challenge and our anxieties. From there we progressed to the streets where we reached a maximum speed of 20. Yes! In all honesty Hannah performed very well. She took instruction from the front and the back seat well and will no doubt be a safe driver.

Glad to oblige her dad when he asked for a look of confidence.

Scary. At least at this point she only drives with us. A whole new level of trust when she is out on her own. One step at a time!!!!

Josh and I agree that she actually looks the part! My, how she has grown up! Way to go, Hannah! If you want a real challenge, come on over here and drive on the opposite side of the car and road!
