Flood Waters

Monday we had a downpour of rain. We have heard that there was around 5 inches in about 2 and a half hours. This first picture is of the pond across the street. Usually you can see several feet of white rock around the edge of the pond. It was almost completely covered.

Here is the spillway adjacent to our house. On a typical day there is a maximum of a foot and a half of water down here.

You can see the water trying to explode out of the buried drain whole.

The trickle of a stream turned into a river behind our house.

To give you a little more perspective, notice the girls standing down there today. They would have been completely under water, I would have been as well. The water is still about 2 feet higher than usual.

Making the most of the situation here, the girls had to get into the mud. If the boys had known what they were up to there would have been a competition I am sure.

Yes we wondered if we needed to build an ark, ha, ha.
